behind the scenes

i had the opportunity to tag along (or rather, menyibuk) to the pdb annual report photo shoot just a few days ago. even though i wasn't the person who would be taking the pictures for the report, i was more interested in seeing how it was done. of course, i couldn't pass up the opportunity to take some pictures myself. so, i took some 'behind the scenes' pictures, and i also took some pictures that weren't behind the scenes hehe.

i wouldn't say that i would be able to capture pictures that can be put into any annual report just yet, but at least, i know what the process is like. honestly, speaking, i had thought it would be rather spontaneous.

well, yes and no. yes because there is a small degree of spontaneity involved in these shoots to make them look natural. but the degree of spontaneity was significantly less compared to the planned aspects. angles were studied beforehand, with specific locations for each person marked on the floor. and if there were any variations, it was all done very uniformly. minute changes translated into big differences in the images. it was all a very interesting and elaborate process, just to get a few pictures.

the equipment? hmm, don't think i'm qualified or even knowledgeable enough to even start. but the photographer (forgot to get his namecard!) was quite friendly and told me and my colleague why he positioned the strobes so and so. or why he used so and so. a bit lost on me, unfortunately.

anyways, here are some pictures that i took that day. enjoy!

oh yes, comments very much welcomed too!
