i like this shot a lot because of the unusual angle. it's really a blind shot, and i was really lucky to get the focus right on her face, especially due to the fact that i used my 50mm f1.8 lens for this shot. nonetheless, i just couldn't get the colors that i want for this picture, and that is one of the main reasons why i delayed in putting this picture up (it was taken way back in mid-september, 3 months exactly). what you see here is the best that i could come up with, keeping in mind that i wanted to portray the skin tone as naturally as possible. it was a very cloudy day that day, as you can probably tell from the picture. on top of that, the photoshoot was done around 11am, if i remember correctly. not exactly ideal timing for great lighting.

i wonder if using a flashgun that day would've made a big difference. you know, expose for the sky, but use fill-in flash. it's only recently that this sort of thing is occurring to me. i really need to learn more about lighting and flash photography.

comments very much welcome on how to improve this picture.

ps - i've reworked the picture to get more natural (and hopefully vibrant) tones. i think i've also managed to extract more detail in the process (22/12/2006).
