for all to see?

well, maybe not quite. but you sure can shower with a view of the sky or the sea beneath you. it's quite exhilirating, in an exhibitionist kind of way. just make sure you don't offend anyone with unwanted views hehe (kena body beautiful la).

zack, thanks a lot for dropping by. this is actually at port dickson, negeri sembilan. the name of the place is avillion. indeed, it's a cool way to take your shower or bath. the only thing is kena sound member la kalau nak mandi tu hehe, so that takde 'non-wardrobe malfunction'. kalau couples, takde masalah la kot. the cast:light and shadow.

I like the contrast between the total pitch darkness vs the harsh bright lights. Love the dinding's texture too. Ni bila masa pegi Avillion PD ni? Wed 26-Jul-2006 16:18

datin d, actually takde la gelap gelita tempat tu hehe. saja naikkan contrast and shadow level for this picture. now that you mention it, i should've asked a friend to put his hand or foot near the light so that nampak macam ada homicide

ezdy, thanks. i guess the effect i wanted to get was achieved. i went to avillion PD near the end of last month.

joni, thanks. tempat tu punya lighting agak best sebenarnya, and would be interesting for nighttime photography.

the distribution center

kak iti hard at work distributing all the goodies.

dramatic!!! i've always thought that it's just wrong to play with your zoom while clicking your shutter. which is absolutely wrong... Tue 25-Jul-2006 02:21
Posted by:cekya  - [Link]
cekya, i don't think it should be wrong. it just provides us with an alternative way of viewing things, yeah?

datin d, thanks. i'm trying my damnedest to improve my editing skills, to complement my images.

nemesis, thanks. it's a simple shot, really. just twist the lens as the shutter is triggered open. kena guna slow shutter la.

kedepuip, refer to the above on the explanation on how to execute the technique. very simple, really. but probably possible on a dslr only.

tony, i guess i purposely underexposed it a bit. or is it due to the high contrast? either way, i thought it suits the picture somehow.

anisism, thanks. i've been playing around with photoshop a bit. still clueless on a lot of things though.

syahrin, thanks for the lengthy explanation. i think i understand, in principle, how it's done. i'm still experimenting with the hdr technique, tapi macam tak berjaya je. could be the subjects that i'm shooting, but i think it's more the execution of the hdr editing/technique itself.

takteh, thanks. saja cari kelainan sikit. and yes, now that you mention it, color dia ada macam nike's jorga bonito ads sikit.

Very nice effect. As my eyes darted here and there especially on the blurred part it felt like the photo moved. Or was it my eyes? Hehe... Ni kena ajar ni bro. Eh, zoom while clicking? I think my camera cannot la . Wed 26-Jul-2006 15:59

hydration

required: two liters or so a day of plain water.

I like this shot.. The shiny reflections of the bottles are very eye-catching to me. It's a little too blue.. But no doubt that I like it.. Sat 22-Jul-2006 08:19
Posted by:hanis  - [Link]
hanis, glad you like the shot. the original shot didn't have many blues actually, but when i edited it, somehow all the blues came out of hiding. i thought the blue matched with the subject, since we often associate blue as the color of water.

ezdy, i like the juxtaposition between the two main colors in the picture too. they're cyan and peach, i believe.

ecah, combination dua color ni kena kan? dapat tip ni pun dari magazine sebenarnya.

nemesis, is it really like velvia? i have no idea, since i never tried velvia before. but i heard that fuji films do emphasize blues and greens a bit more.

datin over, betul ke dah pernah nampak tag ni banyak kali kat tempat lain? as far as i know, probably dua orang je yang ada gambar ni, which i took at cherating. anyways, minumlah air kosong banyak banyak untuk kesihatan.

datin d, senang je nak dapat color macam ni. main dengan curves je. for the red channel, buat macam bentuk 'S' (tarik yang kanan ke atas, yang kiri ke bawah). for the blue channel, buat macam bentuk 'N' (tarik yang kanan ke bawah, yang kiri ke atas). green channel tak payah kacau. tweak the RGB channel to enhance the contrast.

kedepuip, kenapa nama pelik? your cat? you sure? glad you like both pictures.

the morning crawl

here we go again.

no jams in shah alam. that's for sure.. ehehhhee Wed 19-Jul-2006 11:52
Posted by:munzirfauzi  - [Link]
munzirfauzi, kalau dok kat shah alam and kerja kat shah alam, memang heaven...

ecah, same goes for putrajaya, eh?

cekya, i didn't really plan for this shot, even though i had my d50 with me that morning. was actually wanting to get another shot, then suddenly thought the sidemirror would make for an interesting perspective on what was happening around me (and to me as well hehe). the orangey effect? saja experiment sikit...

datuk k, terima kasih banyak banyak pasal sudi melawat fotopage saya yang tak seberapa ni. tak sangka datuk pun minat fotografi ye. boleh ke datuk donate sikit so that saya boleh beli satu macro lens? alaaa, sikit je... roti? bernas jugak idea tu.

pian, yeah, rasa macam tak productive in this sort of situation.

kedepuip slash huliyeh, what a strange name/nick you have... dah la panjang. ada maksud ke? apa yang tak keluar?

tony, shot ni je yang termampu nak amik kalau tak nak kena horn dengan kereta belakang. but i agree, it would be quite interesting kalau dapat snap what other people are doing in their car. kena bawak tele lens la macam ni. this picture was taken with a 50mm.

zuhri, memang banyak radio advertisements during these peak hours. have fun with the wide angle racun hehe.

aisyacan, kat 'sini' tu kat mana? when i was in kb dulu, enam minit je nak sampai ofis dari rumah. paling teruk pun 10 minit la. kalau timing silap, 15 minit pasal jam dekat jalan telipot from the parents sending their kids to school. bangun pun dalam setengah jam sebelum kena masuk kerja hehe.

edoras, this was taken with my d50 with the 50mm attached. why?

hanis, half an hour a day everyday of standing? urgh, even if i take the lrt, i'd have to stand for a max of 20 minutes je. i think you're right when you say the picture isn't as sharp as it could be. for one, i think taking this kind of shots (mirror shots) can be a bit tricky because the focus might be slightly off. the focus may be on the front side of the glass when it should be on the backside of the glass with the silver paint. that's my theory la. the other thing is i kind of rushed this shot because the traffic was starting to move again, although for a very short distance only.

nemesis, ni la jam yang biasa kat jalan jelatek, antara traffic light desa tun hussein onn and traffic light jalan enggang. tapi dah dua tiga hari ni lagi teruk dari biasa la pulak.

ND, thanks for the heads up!

suhaimi, ada nampak macam lomo eh? hmm, tak guna teknik fake lomo tu pun sebenarnya. this was produced using a simple technique that i read about in practical photography, june edition (edoras pun ada jugak this issue, if i recall correctly). just select a hue/saturation adjustment layer, and check the 'colorize' box. then choose the hue that you want. lepas tu, with this adjustment layer selected/active, change the blending option to 'hue'. dapat la gambar ala monochrome macam ni. hope you understand what i'm trying to say.

Alamak, dah terlepas byk entry la. Ok, nak comment sikit boleh ya. I like the editings you did for this image. It's gloomy and almost colourless. As cekya said, I too like that orange effect you added in.

petals

a rather old picture. i like the colors a lot in this one though. i think about the only editing i did was to saturate the colors a bit.

as usual, comments very much welcomed.

ni gambar petal kat mana ni? dah g tgk harga bateri tak? anyway terasa ingin meminjam 10-20mm la. time tt la. Thu 13-Jul-2006 00:13

NICE ANGLE...VIBRANT Thu 13-Jul-2006 04:46
Posted by:IYKM  - [Link]
pian, thanks. yup, i like the vibrant colors a lot too. it's the strongest reason for putting this picture up actually.

nemesis, gambar ni amik kat hyatt kuantan last year. it's actually in a big bowl (bowl? tak tau macam mana nak describe benda tu) in the lobby. tak pegi tengok lagi la harga battery and remote tu. hari tu tak sempat langsung. nak pinjam the 10-20mm boleh.

zuhri, thanks a lot. i might change to a new tag soon hehe. the sigma 10-20mm is a very nice lens. focus laju, and very sharp. kalau dapat cari tokina 12-24mm tu okay jugak kot. memang sama macam nikkor 12-24mm. probably cheaper than the sigma 10-20mm too.

knizam, tak pernah jejak kaki masuk dalam spa pun sebenarnya hehe. ni amik kat lobby hotel je, tengah tengah malam.

khairul hafiz, thanks for the compliment!

allodealova, thanks! dah tengok your two most recent entries, but have yet to leave a comment. will do soon.

azam, thanks. i was looking to give the picture an interesting angle on an otherwise normal subject, even though the colors were really vibrant.

kak rina, thanks. it's good when you hear different views on one subject, right? sort of broadens your horizons.

moque, rubber duckies would spoil the mood la hehe. candles would complement the overall picture, i agree.

tony, depth of field too shallow, eh? ada betul jugak tu. but i wonder if it would have the same effect... will have to try the next time a similar photo opportunity arises.

ecah, best ke mandi bunga? tak pernah try la rasanya... macam biasa pegi spa je ni hehe.

iena, bunga ni bunga orkid. rasanya takde bau kot hehe. tapi memang bunga tu nampak fresh la, as you can see from some of the petals in the picture.

hanis, admittedly, i wasn't really thinking "oooh, this could be a nice spa advertisement kind of shot!" when i was taking this picture. i was just thinking of how to make this shot interesting, hence the close-up and shallow depth of field. takpe, next time i'll try for a spa advertisement shot!

cekya, bila bila nak mek donel session pun boleh. i've actually got the perfect spot in mind, so i'll pm you nanti. i'm sure you'll love the photo opportunity. regarding rules, well, i did try to apply some rules tapi macam takde rules, eh? i think i'm quite happy with how the picture turned out though. i only tweaked the saturation for this shot.

en azli, if you're talking about the sweet spot (where the focus is), it's the middle portion of the picture, slightly off-center to the right.

ezdy, glad you like the photo. the colors were just the right combination, i thought. the orchid petals were a bright purple, and the basin was lit up with warm yellow light. the first time i set my eyes on the lobby, i knew i just had to take a picture of the place, because of the beautiful lighting. the basin was the most eye-catching. and you're right, i basically rested my camera on the lip of the basin, and tilted it downward a bit, and released the shutter.

from the back, lower

here's a picture that i took during my cousin's wedding. i guess it's one of those few that worked out fine. for some reason, i don't really feel like going through the pictures for editing, and it's been a few weeks already. maybe because i think the pictures didn't turn out fine, and looking at them would only demotivate me.

but after seeing pictures of my cousin's wedding and nikah on another fotopage, i just couldn't resist going through my own set just one more time.

hopefully, if ever i have to shoot weddings again, i'll do them better the next time. i think i learn better through experience.

kenterong..hang pakai lens apa?? mostly hang punya gambaq wide gila..pakai wide lens ka?? neway cool pic..candid kalau dapat gambaq muka depa gelak sure lagi best Mon 3-Jul-2006 01:55
Posted by:suhaimi™  - [Link]
suhaimi, for this shot (and many others) i used the sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6 lens. initially, i was looking for the tokina 12-24mm f4, which is exactly like the nikkor 12-24mm f4. tapi takde stok, so i got the sigma instead. i like it a lot. it gives a different feel, and i find it hard sometimes to use other lenses hehe. yup, rasanya kalau dapat dari depan lagi best, tapi tak sempat nak lari ke depan to catch the moment, pasal pengantin dah nak duduk kat meja dah masa tu.

hanis, my turn? hehe i can't say yet, but i'm in no rush. glad you like the picture and color. it's a bit high in contrast, don't you think? i didn't increase the contrast in the picture too much, though. i think it's due to the lighting (or the lack thereof).

dome, takde la. ni blind shot sebenarnya. just letak camera kat lutut and shoot. because i was using a wide angle lens, i was confident that i'd be able to catch the pengantin in the frame quite easily.

moque, the girl in the black dress is quite pretty, so that's why you say she seems a bit distracting? hehe, yeah, perhaps she diverts attention a bit from the couple, but i can't quite explain how she also adds to the overall feel of the image. regarding the weird angles, i don't think i've actually changed the angles i usually shoot from all that much. rather, it's just the effect of the wide angle that has given that unusual flavor to the pictures. nanti kau try la shoot dengan wide angle, and you'll see what i mean.

julia, it was quite candid, but i think it would've been nicer to get a shot from the front as well! i guess that's why you need two or three photographers for this sort of occasion so that you capture all the moments (and angles!).

e&f, thanks for dropping by. yes, i love my wide angle lens hehe.

rossya, i got my sigma at bb/sg wang plaza (selalu confuse which is which) for rm2.1k. it's not the cheapest wide angle lens for a nikon (the tokina 12-24mm is, i believe), but it won the 2006 TIPA award for best consumer lens (of which i found out only a few weeks after making the purchase). glad you like the picture. i like it a lot too, because it just seems different.

fique, well, i did see a few of the sigma 10-20mm while walking around bb/sg wang. price, as mentioned before, is approximately rm2.1k. check la kat deutschland tu, to see if it's cheaper.

tony, this is why we should use a flashgun for this sort of occasion. i had foolishly declined my father's offer of his flashgun, and consequently, only a few pictures turned out good. i mean, i think my hands are rather steady, but the slow shutterspeed rendered a lot of motion blur and unidentifiable faces. why tak guna internal flash je? the lens is too big, so nampak shadow.

edoras, nope. no use of flash for this photo. no use of flash at all that night (big mistake).

ezdy, kena meng-apprentice-kan diri la kalau nak practice banyak banyak. tu pun kalau rajin. it is very taxing. lagi lagi kalau dah amik banyak gambar. nak start edit pun malas, lagi lagi kalau tengah musim world cup ni. the people in the picture nampak 'towering' because pm kan dah sound suruh kita ni jadi towering malay(sians) hehe. actually, it's just the effect of the lens. i think it'll look better if i use the lens correction filter in cs2. i only knew about it after i'd edited this picture. that guy? no idea la, but my cousin punya wedding ni ada la jugak some entertainment industry people datang, because he worked with one of the radio stations for a while.

allodealova, thanks for the kind compliment. hope i'll be able to come up with other interesting shots in the future.
